I was in Parke County yesterday on business and decided to drive back via US 41 and Indiana 47 via Waveland. I went to Maple Ridge Cemetery and took this picture of Eva McMains Pratt's grave. Her parents, Robert and Mary, as well as a couple of sibs, are buried there also. It's interesting that Hiram Pratt and his two wives had such nice tombstones, but little Willie, whose grave he visited often, didn't rate a tombstone.

Mrs. Sarah Evaline PRATT, widow of the late Hiram A. Pratt died at the home of her sister, Mrs. James Alfrey in Crawfordsville, Thursday evening. She was taken to Crawfordsville about 3 weeks ago and had been ill for about amonth before that with a complication of diseases. Funeral services on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Waveland Christian Church were conducted by Rev EE Moorman, of Indianapolis. Interment at Maple Ridge. Sarah E. McMains was born in Parke County, Ind Feb 28, 1845, and departed life May 24, 1917 age 72 years 3 months. The greater part of her life was spent in Montgomery and the adjoining county of Parke. She was married to Hiram A. Pratt Oct 22, 1888, who preceded her to the better world about two years ago. Mrs Pratt obeyed the gospel in early girlhood and became a member of the old Bank Springs Christian Church, afterwards removing her membership to the Waveland Christian Church. To the church she was always loyal and to her Lord faithful to the end. She was of a happy disposition, enjoying life and friends and the blessings God had given her. She was always ready to help anyone in need and befriend those hwom she knew. She will be greatly missed in this community. When she became aware that death was near she made all prepartions fo rher going, arranging the service which was held. The songs, singers and minister are her choice. Some two weeks before her death her brother-in-law, James Alfrey passed away, making now a double burden of sorrow upon Mrs. Alfrey. Our hearts go out to her in this hour of trouble. She leaves to mourn her loss, two brothers, Anderson and Robert McMains of Crawfordsville and three sisters, Mrs. Almira Petty of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Mrs. James Alfrey of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Miranda Ellis who had made her home with her here in Waveland. Mrs. Evaline Pratt, who has been in poor health for some time, was taken to the home of her sister, Mrs. James Alfrey in Crawfordsville last Sunday. It is feared that her trouble is cancer of the stomach.
